WHAT THERE IS TO SEE

Reggello preserves a very interesting artistic and architectural heritage in its squares and museums. A stop in the centre of the town is a must, as is one in Cascia, at the Romanesque Parish Church of San Pietro. This is where the Masaccio Museum of Sacred Art is located. Also worthy of note are the Parish Church of Sant’Agata in Arfoli (1230) and that of Pitiana, in which precious works of art can be admired. Among these are two panels by Ghirlandaio and an altar-piece by Ignazio Hugford. Instead, works by Mino da Fiesole and Antonio Rossellino can be viewed in the Church of San Clemente at Sociana Lastly, the tourist locality of Vallombrosa, seat of the thousand-year-old Abbey and Museum of Sacred Art, abounds in artistic treasures. At Vallombrosa it is possible to travel the Circuit of Chapels, a pedestrian route that winds through the forest, touching the completely restored 17th-/18th-century series of chapels.

The vestiges of numerous castles and the profiles of the renaissance villas embellish our typically Tuscan landscape, which offers to lovers of nature and hiking numerous mountain itineraries amid the Balze and the two forests of San Antonio and Vallombrosa.
